KitchenAid 9 and 12-Cup Food Processor Parmesan/Ice Grating Disc

While this is made especially or claimed special for Parmesan Cheese Grating and slushies or ice cones, I purchased it for making Latkes or as also known, potato pancakes. The traditional way of making with slivers is not at all as good in flavor and texture and consistency as using this blade. The old way of using a rough hand held blade grinder was time consuming, somewhat dangerous on the knuckles and VERY tiring on the hands and arms. This blade makes it nearly instant and with very good results. I don't know why Kitchenaid doesn't push this usage, but someone should. It takes a very, very labor and time consuming delicious dish and makes it very quick and easy. Now it doesn't have to be a Jewish Holiday to eat this delicious side dish. And just in case you have never tried them there are carloads of recipes on the web and they ARE delicious and not bad on the diet either. I received this Disc two weeks ago, and have used it approximately 15 times to grate ice and twice to grate cheese. It performs both functions perfectly. The ice is approximately the consistency of snow and when packed into a glass makes a perfect cooler for your drink. My first time grating ice, I packed the cubes in the feed tube and turned on the machine. What a noise! I had not placed the pusher on top of the cubes, and a few small chunks flew out and over the tube. I guess noise is something one should expect when grating such a hard material as ice. I'm used to the noise now and it does not bother me. Using the pusher insures nothing flies up the tube. The disc is simple, does what it is purposed to do, and seems just as well constructed as the discs which were included with the food processor originally. No complaints. I would not hesitate to purchase it again.

I bought this blade for the purpose of grating carrots for carrot cake. I previously used the recommended shredder but this blade grated the carrots perfectly and my cake was consistent with carrot flavor-as opposed to the strands of shreds which were throughout my cake when I used the shredder. The flavor of the cake was much richer and moister. I plan on trying other veggies to grate for baking purposes.

The blade is great! It would have taken me a long time to grate all those carrots by hand. The blade is a real energy and time saver and does a much better job
