Black & Decker FP1550S 10-Cup Food Processor, Stainless Steel and Black

After reading several bad reviews I had decided not to get it - even though, at the price, 10 cup size and strong engine power of 500 watts it seemed the best deal compared to other brands that cost twice as much, or even more.

Anyway, I had written it off until I happened to see a unit on display at Target and was able to touch it and inspect it for myself. It looked perfectly fine to me. The blade seemed thick and sturdy. I checked out how the lid opens and closes etc and couldn't find anything visibly wrong with it. Maybe you have to get used to it, and not use brute force on any parts, but it's not rocket science. So I ended up buying it.

When I tried it out at home I was careful not to force any parts. There are two safety features. The first one is that the lid needs to be locked. The first time I used this food processor I found it very hard to latch the lid. The second time I tried to latched the lid the little, flimsy plastic catches on the bowl snapped off. This leaves the food processor absolutely useless as it will not operate without the latches being secured. This is a badly designed product and if I am still able to return it I certainly will. If not it will have to go in the trash. I should have bought a Kitchen Aid or Cuisinart.

This is my first food processor. I use it daily and it seems to work just fine for the simple tasks I need it to do. I do wish it had an on/off button and I wish the feeder was bigger. I have to cut items fairly small to get them to fit through the feeder.
