Summary: Would not pay full price 2009-11-11
Comment: I picked this up for $45 at Bed, Bath and Beyond, and for the price it is a nice unit. That said, it is very lite, which is odd for a food processor, and the blades are far apart, which is not ideal. Also, the mixer portion is very cheap feeling and the unit is very loud when running.

For $45, though, it is a good deal.

Comment: So I'm not sure what to make of this. I was looking for a food processor for a while and finally got Cuisinart at BJ's for a really good price. Brought it home, tried to look for power information on the box, in the manual, on the web-site, didn't find anywhere. Turned out it was 625 Watt. So call me crazy but I thought it won't be enough for me. Brought it back. Was seriously considering Wolfgang Puck one but it was pricy (that one is 900 Watt). So here I found the one with a 1000 Watt power. Got it from Macy's when it went on sale (199). Received the other day. Beautiful looking unit! Love the Variable power (you can dial in the speed you want it to go at). Very useful. Looks great on the counter! soft grip handle is very useful. The blade is not as sharp as I thought it would be (so with all that power, the dull blade didn't do much to my almonds I was trying to chop). OK. So I will take the blade to sharpen someplace. The Disc with the julienne type of cut is really useful for me as I do that on the Japanese shredder very often and I haven't seen that on the food processors. Attachment for beating egg whites or cream would also help a lot to keep only one appliance on the countertop (I usually drag my heavy KA on the top for that). Does a great job mixing the dough. Has a really tall shaft cover inside so you can put a lot of liquid in it without worrying of it spilling. I had that issue with the Cuisinart.
Now to the problems: who makes this wonder machine and where would you go for parts? Couldn't find any info on the whole Google universe! Guess what? It's made by Focus Electrics (kind of integration company who buys troublesome companies and turns them around). so this baby is a product of old "West Bend" brand and "Back to Basics" brand both owned by Focus.
