Usually I slice them and drizzle with olive oil and bake, so I thought slicing them as fries would be more appealing to kids (and less expensive than the frozen ones at the health food co-op). I used this disc in my Cuisinart Prep 11 plus. It turns out that yams and sweet potatoes are alot more firm than white potatoes. The light gold colored ones sliced up a little better than the dark red ones, but both colors were a bit of a hassle, getting stuck in the blade and jamming it up.
Works great on white potatoes though, and I'm looking forward to using it on other vegetables for stir fries and salads. 41 of 41 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Cuisinart DLC-836 6-by-6mm Fruit, Vegetable and French Fry Disc Fits 7 and 11-Cup Processors (Kitchen) I bought this for my hubby as a Christmas gift because he is the french fry maker in our house.....for some reason I thought the fries would be thick cut fries, but they are more like McDonald fries (long and thin). So if you are looking for Micky D fries, this is your blade. If you want them a little thicker, then I don't think this is what you are looking for. 26 of 26 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Cuisinart DLC-836 6-by-6mm Fruit, Vegetable and French Fry Disc Fits 7 and 11-Cup Processors (Kitchen) I love this disc - and I use it more than all my other cuisinart discs put together. It makes beautiful julienned vegetables, tender zucchini sticks that I can saute with garlic & parsley & toss with whole wheat pasta. And I love to julienne root vegetables like potatoes, turnips & rutabaga then chop the sticks into cubes on my chopping board - they are then absolutely perfect for my home made soups. And it's the best way I've found to cut onions in my cuisinart. I don't like to whiz onions with the blade because they end up too finely chopped. But if I put them through this julienne disc they mostly come out just the right size for sautes, soups & sauces. This disc is also perfect for getting celery to just the right size for soups and sauces. If I didn't own this disc I'd use my cuisinart way less often than I do. It was an expensive addition but an absolutely worthwhile one. |
