Though it has a high-speed motor and durable stainless-steel motor shaft, keep in mind that the Mini-Mate is designed for small amounts of food: 2 tablespoons is the maximum recommended for one batch, and food pieces should be no larger than 1/2 inch. Purchase it to complement, not replace, a larger, full-function food processor. An instruction book that accompanies the processor details how to process many common foods and troubleshoot problems so you know how to best use and care for your Mini Mate.
Cleanup and completion of small jobs is quicker and more efficient because of the small size, though the many parts of the Mini Mate require disassembly, careful cleaning, and reassembly, which does add to total cleaning time. If you don't have the time or the patience for smaller detail-oriented prep jobs, Mini Mate is a great kitchen aid. --Emily Wolf

This review is from: Cuisinart MM-2M Mini Mate Chopper / Grinder (Kitchen) I tried two other small food processors, the KitchenAid Chef's Chopper and the Cuisinart Mini-Prep Plus for making two to four servings of pesto, cilantro sauce etc, but pureeing these small amounts of ingredients in the approximately 3 cup work bowls was difficult because the blade throws the ingredients on the sides. Scraping the ingredients down several times helps but the finished product was still not smooth enough.
The MM-2M works much better for making these small amounts of sauces. You still have to scrape the ingredients down once or twice but the puree is much smoother. The blades turn much faster than the other two processors and there are also two speeds. You can reverse the blade holder to choose a blunt or sharp leading edge. The blunt edge works well for pureeing. The unfortunate drawback to this processor is that the motor housing forms the top of the work bowl. As a result, quite a bit of the finished product ends up coating the end of the...Read more 94 of 102 people found the following review helpful: By Marina "ma01rina" (Washington, DC United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Cuisinart MM-2M Mini Mate Chopper / Grinder (Kitchen) My first Mini Mate died within 60 days because a metal piece fell of it. The replacement I received (pay attention, you pay shipping for sending it and a 10$ check) broke after being used twice. 61 of 65 people found the following review helpful: By Brian Massey (SF Bay Area, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Cuisinart MM-2M Mini Mate Chopper / Grinder (Kitchen) Cooking Thai, Viet, Chinese, Indian dishes requires quick chopping/mincing/grinding/puree of *multiple* spices. I searched all over for something of small size for per-meal quantities. This is it! Just a few pulses, and you have minced garlic, galanga, lemongrass, coriander, ginger, chili peppers, whatever. Works good too on small quantities of nuts, and even coffee beans, in a pinch. Another review says several pieces to wash; I don't get that, you just have the included bowl and blade thingee to rinse. The motor top doesn't get messy because it's on top; you just sponge it off when done. Love mine; inexpensive and to purpose. Perfect for that mini-spice/herb/food-processor you've been looking for.
