The Mini-Mate makes quick work of small kitchen prep jobs that might otherwise require difficult and messy chopping, grinding, and grating: nuts, nutmeg, and cinnamon sticks, peppercorns and seeds, garlic and anchovies, even chocolate and citrus peel. With a patented reversible blade for sharp or blunt processing, and two speeds of operation, it is well equipped to handle a variety of jobs. Though it has a high-speed motor and durable stainless-steel motor shaft, keep in mind that the Mini-Mate is designed for small amounts of food: 2 tablespoons is the maximum recommended for one batch, and food pieces should be no larger than 1/2 inch. Purchase it to complement, not replace, a larger, full-function food processor. An instruction book that accompanies the processor details how to process many common foods and troubleshoot problems so you know how to best use and care for your Mini Mate. Cleanup and completion of small jobs is quicker and more efficient because of the small size, though the many parts of the Mini Mate require disassembly, careful cleaning, and reassembly, which does add to total cleaning time. Summary: nice, versatile appliance 2008-12-16
Comment: I've had this product for years and when it broke, I tried other similar products but decided to order this product. It works for grinding garlic, ginger, flax seeds, it works for all. It's a small capacity but works for me.

Summary: Great little grinder 2008-11-29
Comment: I'm finally having to replace mine after over 10 years of use!
It still works great, but after so much use the 'bowl' is worn and starting to crack. I would jut replace the bowl as it is available from Cusinart ($6, plus $5.95 shipping) but from here it makes more sense just to replace the whole unit. Plus could use a new blade and that is $14.50.
A must have for when you need to chop up herbs!

Comment: This chopper lasted just over a month before the blade came apart and cracked the base. I called and emailed Cuisinart for replacement. They just ignored me. Don't waste your money.

Comment: I bought this as a replacement for one that finally died after many years of service. I use it primarily for chopping shallots. It's also good for chopping nuts for cookies, either finely or coarsely. Any small job such as these it does in a flash without having to deal with knives or cutting boards. Unlike my old one, this one has a reversible blade assembly that has both sharp and blunt edges.

Comment: I bought my first one of these about 10 years ago and used it several times a week, mainly for mincing shallots or herbs. I found it did a fine job on these items, mincing them into fairly uniform, tiny pieces. Contrary to what many other reviewers experienced, I found it very easy to clean. About two years ago, the blade shaft broke in half, rendering it unusable. I did some research and found that it would cost me more to buy a replacement part than to buy an entirely new unit. Which is what I did--and today the blade assembly broke in half on the second one, after only two years of service! Probably needless to say, I will not be buying a third one! I'm very disappointed in Cuisinart, although I've enjoyed my full-size DLC-11 for at least 15 years.
