Summary: Not good for puree; Bowl warped 2010-09-02
Comment: I got this product after searching long and hard for a larger food processor that would work as well as my smaller one. I guess I didn't think through how my use would vary from how the 4- and 5-star reviewers used theirs. That's my fault. However, the warped bowl is not. I'm very disappointed.
Not good for puree: And it would not even touch sesame seeds that need to be practically ground for hummus. The seeds simply remain at the bottom of the bowl. My smaller one had no problem with that.
Bowl warped after only about 3-5 uses. Again, I've had my smaller food processor for 15 years, washed it hundreds of times in the top shelf of 3-4 different dishwashers with nary a problem. This bowl was washed in the same dishwasher--in water that is about as cool as it can be and still get things clean. The plastic seems cheap and I don't think it will last any length of time, warped or not.
NOTE: Very good customer service at Hamilton Beach/Proctor Silex. They're sending me a replacement bowl at no charge. They at first wanted me to pay $11+ $5 shipping. But I pled my case nicely and ended up getting it for free. Should be getting the new bowl soon enough.
MORE IMPORTANT: Call when things don't work properly. I've successfully gotten full replacements from various manufacturers for other faulty kitchen appliances in the past couple of years, simply by calling and being nice but firm: new coffee pot after the old one burned my arm, new iron after the adjustment knob wouldn't turn, and a new electric mixer when a belt jammed. (I had to cut and send the plug in at least 2 cases, I believe.) I have a faulty toaster oven that won't heat over 350 degrees that I need to check on next. It's a little bit of work to do this; but if I pay for it, I need it to work.
Best wishes.

Summary: Good product - IF they send you the BLADE 2010-08-28
Comment: I received this food processor, but it wasn't long before I discovered the blade was NOT INCLUDED. I called Hamilton Beach customer service and was informed that NOT INCLUDING THE MOST ESSENTIAL PART OF THE PRODUCT is not covered under their warranty. I could send it back to Amazon, and have them send it back to HB, and then MAYBE get the blade, or I could pay $4 and get the blade in a week. I was pissed, but figured my odds of getting this thing working sometime this decade was better by spending the $4. In any case, if you have had a similar problem, perhaps we can force some change in warranty or quality control or both.

Summary: Question 2010-08-25
Comment: I am shopping around for a food processor that is small enough to fit in my overloaded cabinets, but strong enough to handle mixing dough for pie crusts. Can anyone tell me if this food processor would be able to handle that? Thanks!

Summary: No problems 2010-08-25
Comment: Works like it should... cheeses, pico de gallo, baby food.... whatever! I had 2 cuisinarts before this that burnt out within 2 months, and after a little research, got this. Works great!
