Amazon.com Review
With a 350-watt motor and a 7-cup bowl, this inexpensive tool puts a family-size food-processor's versatility and ease into a cook's hands at a bargain price. With two speeds to choose from and a pulse control, the processor offers classic flexibility for fine work. The processor's S-shaped stainless-steel blade kneads bread dough and chops and minces a variety of foods, from nuts to meat to cheese to vegetables and fruits. The reversible, stainless-steel disc blade slices and shreds fruits and vegetables, and, for slicing and shredding tasks larger than 7 cups, the cover's continuous-feed chute conveys food to any-size bowl on the counter. Beginners will appreciate the control panel's chart, which lists the appropriate blades and speeds for specific tasks. The processor measures 13 by 13 by 8-1/4 inches and sits on suction-cup feet to prevent skidding. The bowl, cover, and blades are dishwasher-safe. --Fred Brack

poorly designed food processor, January 3, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 70700 ChefPrep Food Processor (Kitchen)
Santa bought one of these for my wife. We quickly learned that the height of the space between the top of the cutting plate and the bottom of the top cover for the bowl is so large that anything you try to slice, grate, whatever, will still be a big chunk of food before the slicing or grating is complete. This item would work fine if you don't mind picking the large chunks of "sliced or grated" food out of the bowl every time you run a separate piece of food through the cutting area ... I'm returning it today.

Ok for Pureeing - Doesn't Shred or Slice Very Well, December 27, 2000
By A Customer

The Hamilton Beach was my very first food processer(Santa just brought me the Kitchenaid 11 cup Ultrapower). The Hamilton Beach is ok for pureeing and chopping but the design of the slicer/shredder doesn't work well. It's also awkward for loading in the dishwasher. It's also very loud! If you're looking for a processor for occassional chopping or pureeing, this is ok.

This design came out about 30 years ago -- it was bad then, it is bad now.
The motor uses a belt drive. That is why it is noisy.
Although it has a seven-cup capacity, you are only allowed to put 2 cups of fluid into the bowl. If you put any more in, it will seep up through the cutting blade and find it's way into the spindle. Yuck.
If you read the instructions it tells you not to operate it for anything longer than 1 minute -- yet it says you can knead bread. The reason you can not run it for very long is because you will burn out the motor. I guess if you bought 20 of these machines and transferred the bowl from unit to unit you COULD technically knead bread. So, I guess they are right -- kinda'.
It is great for mixing chocolate milk for one person.
I wish Hamilton-Beach would get off their collective butts and build a real machine for the masses!
