Summary: shredder - not fry cutter, buyer beware 2009-12-10
Comment: The "french fry cutter" shreds, does not make french fries. Throws food all over when adding next piece into the shute for cutting. Checked the manual, checked parts, but no joke, this is a shredder, not a french fry cutter. Better cut your fries by hand, and save this for your shredding jobs.

Summary: Enjoying my first food processor 2009-11-25
Comment: I chose this processor for my first because of best buy Consumer Reports ranking. It has been easy to use and I am already cooking with it regularly. I've been able to prepare large batches of chopped and shredded vegetables in less than 5 minutes. I had been told the parts on a processor are hard to clean, but it has been easy to clean. I wish it included storage for the all the parts. Particularly, I would like to store the blades and other attachments together.

Summary: Horrible Gift! 2009-01-16
Comment: I bought this "food processor" as a gift for my husband. The price was amazing at the time and I jumped on it! After trying the thing out for the first time I knew it was not up to par like certain reviews suggested. The chopping blade has no way to be securely attached to the center and it continually flies off the top and lands in the food. You then have to stop the processor, open the top, fish your hands around whatever gooey mess you are mixing and find the blade in order to reattach it to the center only to have the same thing happen in about ten seconds. It is very frustrating.
The safety button which is linked to the lid broke within one day so if we wanted to we could use the processor without the lid on and create a huge mess and not to mention this is dangerous around children.
The "pulse" button never worked so we basically had two "on" buttons.
I called Oster and tried to get assistance and they told me to take the machine to the nearest repair facility which was two hours away from me.
Needless to say this item is on its way back to Amazon to get a refund so I can buy another brand.
Stay away from this product!!!!

Summary: Fast and easy to clean 2008-12-14
Comment: I purchased this processor because it was one of the more compact designs and made it easier to store. It is a little heavier than expected but is everything I was looking for. Blends, mixes & cleans up fast.

Summary: Oster 3212 Food Processor 2007-12-27
Comment: The Oster 3212 does a fine job of slicing and shredding, the almost exclusive use I make of it. It uses just one blade that you turn over to switch between slicing and shredding, which I would call a convenience.
However, that one blade is sandwiched between two pieces of plastic that start to separate from each other, causing its hexagonal shape shaft to round out and eventually just spin freely instead of turning with the motor. I bought a replacement blade from an authorized parts place (rather than look for the receipt to see if it's still under warranty) and found the new blade parts were loose and separating to begin with. I glued them together for longer lasting performance, something Sunbeam should have done to begin with.
Eventually I dropped the cover onto my tile kitchen floor and broke off the tab that allows it to lock and operate. Fortunately, there is a tab on the cover back that also allows it to operate with the opening in the back instead of the front, but that tab does not always keep sufficient lock and the processor often just stops, forcing me to unlock the cover and bowl to try for a better connection. I will soon replace the unit with a top rated Kitchenaid.
