Then I found this unit at the local wal mart and liked it because of it's design. It is a 10 cup unit but it has a small footprint. The storage is very smart and the safety features DO NOT get in the way of processing. Now that I chose this unit, I started experimenting with other recipes which require dough. I was a little worried that the unit might be underpowered for dough but am happy to find that it will process dough without any problem. When I first tried dough I used the "mixer" method which is to make the base and then add flour until the dough ball couldn't hold any more flour. With the food process you start with dry ingredients and then 'drizzle' the water into the bowl until the dough ball is complete. Too much water and the dough gets sticky and stops the machine! So the slow drizzle method works perfectly and the machine handles it...Read more 9 of 11 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Oster FPSTFP4600 Professional 10-Cup Food Processor with In-Bowl Storage, Stainless Steel (Kitchen) Clear plastic tab broke on assembly. What you get in a silver 10-cup food processor for $100 sounded too good to be true and it is. Could not use it. Very cheap manufacturing; there is no excuse for pieces of plastic to be breaking off a food processor - what does that say about the quality of the more important parts like the blades or motor! Oster disappointed everyone with their silver toaster ($30) and now this food processor. I am returning it for a refund. It is a shame because my wife likes the way it looks (comes with a blade storage and is very compact). I will look at Cuisinart or Kitchen Aid. Not sure if I have faith in Oster 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Oster FPSTFP4600 Professional 10-Cup Food Processor with In-Bowl Storage, Stainless Steel (Kitchen) I was very pleased that my husband got me a food processor for Christmas. My only experience with them has been a Cuisnart Mini (which I didn't like) and a Hamilton Beach food processor (which broke, one plastic piece after another, very quickly, and it was loud). This Oster food processor is absolutely dreamy and I love it!This food processor has very sharp blades (be careful getting them out of the packaging), sturdy plastic parts, a handy storage container, and a quiet motor! It is so nice that I can use it and still carry on a conversation in the kitchen. The motor barely hums which it's turned on. The plastic parts aren't flimsy. I dropped one of the accessories but it didn't break. I was suprised since my previous Hamilton Beach food processor would have shattered. I've used the slicing and shredding attachments as well as the all purpose blade. The slicing process is smooth and very easy to use. I'm really happy with it looking forward to...Read more |
