Over the last 15 years, I've gone through about five Cuisinarts. The reason is that when I grate softer cheese (mozzarella, jarlsberg, etc.), the cheese gets wedged between the lid and the grating wheel and eventually cracks and breaks the lid and the other components. That's why I decided to try something new to see if I could get it to last longer. The Viking processor feels like a heavier-duty unit than any of the Cuisinarts I've ever used. The base feels solid, the dial (pulse and continuous) is heavy duty, and the bowl components are made of a much heavier gauge plastic and metal than any other unit I've seen. The Viking is more expensive, but the added strength of the components is worth it. I frequently grind nuts and not only does the Viking not walk across the counter, but it is vastly quieter as well. The motor does not strain when mixing stiff doughs, does not bind up when shredding or slicing and dicing and is heavy enough to hold up my cutting boards like a bookend.
If you use a food processor regularly, this is the one. 10 of 12 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Viking VFP12BR Food Processor Bright Red This Viking processor is quality built. It has a heavy base with rollers on the rear to move it easily across the counter but will stay put during operation. The motor is very quiet with a single control to either run or pulse. The unit comes with a blade storage case, also large and small blades and bowls. That's all you need. The price is a bit more than the higher store-brand models but I'm glad I decided to go with the Viking. The quality and style is supurb.
