Viking used to be the "Lexus" of food processors. I bought one and the numerous plastic parts to it began snapping off within a short period of time. Do NOT waste your money on one of the new versions. This is what happens when good companies get bought out.

You are not supposed to put this in the dishwasher. Since the dishwasher is the best way to clean a food processor bowl, I did it anyway thinking that the problem is the possibility of melting the bowl which I knew I could avoid by always putting it in the upper rack. The bowl did not melt but I have found out that the handle is fastened to the bowl with some sort of glue, not any firm connection. That glue has now melted and the tiny flange that was supposed to give an additional connection has broken. Even the little plate at the bottom that is fastened with a couple of phillips head screws is plastic and has broken as well. It is now completely useless. My guess is that the handle would eventually fall off even if you used very hot water in a dish pan.

Even if you are a rule follower and don't put it in the dishwasher, the operation of this processor is inadequate. When you grate cheese or carrots or other items like squash , large chunks slip around the disk...Read more
