It was a great kitchen tool. We used it to chop onions, tomatoes, mix guacamole and gravies, and other items. One day, when making tacos, I attempted to grate cheese (This is on page 11 of the instruction manual). Unfortunately, one of the plastic flanges on top of the blade broke, rendering it useless. I contacted Toastmaster via their 800 number and was told that they couldn't find the replacement part (#70590) and would ship one if they found it. We have yet to hear from them or receive a replacement blade. I believed it was an excellent product. If it breaks like mine did, I guess you're out of luck. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: By Jane Ogg (New Jersey) - See all my reviews This review is from: Toastmaster 1750 Preppy Food Prep System (Kitchen) I thought this product was the greatest thing I had ever used. The chicken salad I could make with this was the best I had ever tasted. I would chop onion, celery, and the chicken into fine pieces. Then, like the other review, mine also broke. A small plastic piece in the main unit (where the motor is) broke off. When I called, the man asked if I had the receipt. Of course I did not. I've had it for about 8 months. He told me it would be cheaper if I bought a new one instead of buying the replacement part and paying the shipping. If I had my receipt, it would have been under warranty! Basically he was of no help. But the product, before it broke, was fantastic! 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Toastmaster 1750 Preppy Food Prep System (Kitchen) The idea behind the Preppy is fine. One powerhead drives any of the attachments so it can perform the common tasks we cooks do. The Preppy can switch among tasks with ease. The Preppy is peppy, with two speeds, and containers and blades that handle modest amounts of whatever needs to be chopped, grated, blended, mixed, whisked.
Unfortunately the part in the powerhead that mates with the attachments is made of Nylon, and it is not sturdy enough to handle the torque, so it breaks in normal use. Even at $30 or less, common street prices for the Preppy, this is not a good buy because it will not last long at all. |
