I had to replace a Kitchenaid food processor which constantly leaked as a result of a design defect. This machine is not only more powerful (the Kitchenaid was only 700 watts) but the design is truly ingenious. The lid closes securely and has a rubber gasket to prevent leakage. The food bowl also sits securely on the base and there is no leakage when using the machine. The parts all fit superbly: the reversible blade, adjustable blade, metal blade, emulsion disk (which is used to emulsify eggs and other liquids - works great!), and best of all: all of the parts , including a handy spatula, fit within the machine, either inside the bowl or in its drawer on the base of the unit, so there is no separate box of parts to keep track of. As soon as I received my unit, I began to use it immediately for many tasks such as processing dough for a pie, make a salad dressing, chopping vegetables,...Read more 18 of 19 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Wolfgang Puck WPMFP15 12-Cup Direct-Drive Food Processor with Storage Drawer (Kitchen) When I first got it I thought it was better in every way than my former Cuisinart Pro Custom. It was more powerful and easier to use. After two weeks the little PLASTIC clip on the bowl that allows the processor to run; broke off. I thought maybe it was something I had done. I managed to epoxy it back together and it ran fine for about three months then stopped working altogether. I played around with it for awhile and finally figured out that this little tiny plastic clip wears down after use and finally fails to make contact with the part of the motor that says "yes, lets do this".
This very important piece is so flimsy its amazing it held out that long. I did an exhaustive search on the internet to try and find a new bowl and that is when I discovered incident after incident, dating back to 2005 of people having this very same problem, or having the blade break. I also found a lot of evidence that Wolfgang Puck customer service is terrible and does...Read more 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Wolfgang Puck WPMFP15 12-Cup Direct-Drive Food Processor with Storage Drawer (Kitchen) We purchased this product 9 months ago and were very pleased with it until the shredder blade broke while processing a small piece of mozzarella cheese. The cheese was not forced into the unit, in fact we weren't even using the tamper. We reported our claim to Wolfgang Puck and were initially told that they would replace the broken part but would charge us $13 US for shipping (a price we thought was exorbitant and more than sufficient for the manufacturer to cover not only the shipping but also the replacement of the part). Then Puck sent an email to us denying warranty coverage without any explanation whatsoever except that we should read the manual. We read the manual and remained at a mystery as to why our claim should be denied. We took issue with Puck's position but never received anything even remotely close to a satisfactory explanation.
We conducted a google search and ascertained that a number of people had suffered a shredder blade failure. We compared the...Read more |
